Finding the right Twin Size bedding for your child is a lot easier than finding Twin Size bedding for an adult because the designs and colors of this size of bedding is usually made more for a child than an adult. A Twin Size mattress commonly measures 39″ Wide x 75″ Long. A Twin Size duvet cover measures around 67″ x 87″. This bed cover will hang 28″ in Width and 12″ in Length from the mattress. In this case, you would require a bed skirt or an over sized flat sheet for your bed if you decide to buy a Duvet Cover with these exact measurements.
If you want the bed cover to hang a little more, than you will need a bigger size comforter cover. In this situation, you will need to switch to a Full Size cover. Full Size duvet covers can measure around 76″ x 87″. The Full Size duvet cover will hang 37″ in Width and 12″ in Length on a Twin bed. It will hang an extra 9 inches more in Width compared to the Twin Size bedding and long enough to cover the box spring mattress.
If you are unable to get a Full Size duvet cover, then maybe its time to take a step further and try Full/Queen. Full/Queen comforter covers generally measure around 88″x 88″. Which means that the Full/Queen bed cover will hang 49″ in Width and 13″ in Length on the Twin bed. It will hang an extra 21″ in Width compared to the Twin bedding. This size is perfect if the bed is raised a few inches above the ground or if you like your bedding to reach the floor.
Not all sizes are created equal. It’s always a good idea to ensure the measurements of the bedding before deciding which one is right for you. Always make sure that the bed cover is about the same size or 1 – 2 inches smaller than the comforter cover. For example, if you decide to purchase a Full Size comforter cover, always ensure the bedcover that is going inside the comforter cover is about the same size or 1 – 2 inches more than the comforter. Also, If you decide to switch to a bigger bed cover, please keep in mind that the fitted sheet will not fit properly onto the mattress. If this the case, you can always buy fitted sheet suspenders or simply purchase an oversized sprei (Indonesian) and not a fitted sheet.
